THE VENDORS VIEW

Tudor House house has been my family's home for many years, my great great grandfather was living there around 1900 and other members of our family have lived in both parts of the house since then. It has not been on the market since 1930 when my great grandfather, John Holland Warner bought it. John's wife was the local midwife. Deciding to sell the property now has been a difficult decision for us but due to family commitments the time has come to move on. The house has a unique character and atmosphere which we will miss, but hopefully a new owner will love the place as we did.

Tudor House was built in 1615 for Thomas Westerne, bailiff to the Earl of Shrewsbury and named New Hall. In the 18th Century the house was owned by the Marple family and the property was at that time known as the Red Lion Inn. We think the house was divided into two dwellings around 1850 after it's use as a workhouse for the Ashbourne Poor Law Union, during that time up to 77 Inmates were housed there.
